Greetings

I am an artist and scholar based in Santa Cruz, CA. Influenced by the humanities, including the histories of science and documentary, I write and create media to grapple with the textures and contradictions of daily life.

With wide-ranging intellectual interests, I have an undergraduate degree in sociology, anthropology, and environmental studies from St. Olaf College, in addition to a master’s degree in science, technology, and society from University College London. In September of 2024, I began doctoral work in UC Santa Cruz’s History of Consciousness department.

I’ve pursued my variegated interests in a peripatetic career that has spanned the gamut of research, communication, and trade-based industries: from biogeochemistry labs and bilingual classrooms in Europe and South America, to Film and TV studios for BBC and PBS Television, and a cabinetry shop.

I have published sociological writing online and in print, including a peer-reviewed article (link) published in Social Studies of Science, a flagship journal for the history and sociology of science, based on graduate research I conducted at the BBC Television headquarters in London, UK.

If you are interested in commissioning work, ordering prints, hiring me for an assignment, or simply being in touch, please contact me at brjkantor@gmail.com.
